CARDINAL is a mastering studio located in the greater Portsmouth, NH / NH Seacoast area, serving New England, the United States and (thanks to the Internet) worldwide. Here are the main services I provide:

A. Audio Mastering & Remastering of all sorts of music (rock, pop, acoustic, electronica, dance, country, hip-hop. undefinable, psychedelic, indy, jazz, classical and so on) - this includes solo artists, live recordings, film soundtracks, audio from and for video production, theatre, musicals, classical performances and more. If I have not listed your needs here please write and inquire - this is not an exhaustive list and chances are good I can assist.

B. Audio Restoration / Preservation of rare vinyl records, amateur / family home audio (there is a great deal of this from the 60's & 70's),
home movie audio, old and worn cassettes, reel-to-reel tape and more. I can breathe new life into these recordings, digitally preserving them where else they would have continued to deteriorate. I am often appalled with restoration work that does not bear in mind the appropriate subtlety. I perform mindful, museum-grade restoration and preservation.

C. Audio Forensics. I have the tools and skills to extract intelligible audio from a cacophony of sound. I can count the times I've done this professionally on one hand (and on two fingers for that matter) and it is a distant third to my other offerings, but it is not any less a possibility. Law enforcement, lawyers, courts and suspicious people all may apply. All forensics requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

MASTERING

Singles of short to 'normal' length = $45

Unusually long or complex* singles = $45 + negotiation

20-30 minute EP = $350

35-45 minute LP = $450

30 minute classical / jazz performance = $250-$350

* 'complex' mainly describing a track that strays wildly from its initial balance several times, as if it were a few songs in one - rare.

Prices include a single samlpe-rate render (whichever is
most appropriate - usually 24/48) - additional sample
rate conversion is $10 per conversion, per track. DDP creation is included with all EPs & LPs destined for CD.

The rate chart above has worked well for 95% of all projects, though prices are relatively negotiable - I want to be able to provide for anyone who comes my way and, of course, I need to equally provide for myself. If your project is unusually challenging (or unusually easy) rates will be based on the chart + specifics (please email or call) - the agreed upon price may be a touch more or a touch less. I also offer discounts for return clients and referrals.

RESTORATION & FORENSICS

Restoration and forensic rates are highly dependent on material. Please get in touch with a sample of the audio for a quote. My prices are quite reasonable so there are not likely to be any big surprises!
